Beach clean yesterday

Yesterday was the beach clean we organised at Saint Annes beach, Lancashire. Planning it in only 11 days and an incredible 70 people came to help!

We gave away over 100 t-shirts and the feedback was incredible!

We helped clear the beach of baby wipes, BBQ's, plastic bags, bottles and so much more.

It made me want to do more, be more than just a fashion brand! Have an ethos, live by it and inspire others to do the same. The amount of messages from people who have been doing random acts to help the environment is incredible!

I strongly feel this is the first step of many in helping our environment.

We also planted 71 trees for every person who helped at the beach clean!

Social distance beach clean

We are hosting a social distancing beach clean :

11 am at Saint Anne's, Lancashire on Saturday 20th June

First 100 people get a free t-shirt 🏖️🌿

We want our business to encourage positive environmental acts in our local area and encourage others to do so too.

We will provide pickers and bin bags but please bring your own if you have them.

Plantable seed "thank you" cards

When I wrote down my plans for my new business, I wanted to say thank you for orders but in a green way. I wanted a gift that kept giving not just to be disposed of.
I decided to use seed paper which can be planted, not only resembling the trees we have planted with every t-shirt sold but also to give back to nature.

We choose our seed mixes with bees in mind and our thank you cards includes Sweet Alyssum, Poppy, Marigold, Baby’s Breath & Basil. These are non-invasive species that are commonly found in garden shops and can be grown in pots and left outside for bees and other pollinators.

I could not wait to try it out myself and after 2 days I could see little plants beginning to grow! I cannot wait to watch our seeds grow and the business too.

Organic cotton - Why we use it

It is important to understand how the fashion industry also impacts on our environment. Fast fashion uses a lot of energy and resources to make clothing.

Organic cotton is considered to be one of the most sustainable fibres for textile production;
it’s both natural and renewable whilst avoiding harmful pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
The production of organic cotton uses methods and materials that have a low impact on our environment;
resulting in less soil and water contamination, less use of irrigated water, less green house gases and is GMO free.
Also the cotton farmers benefit from an improved standard of living.
Organic cotton garments are better for the environment, better for textile workers, better for farmers and better for you.

The start of something incredible!

In December 2019, I sat down to write my unrealistic New Year's resolutions the usual things came to mind but I decided to really push it this year so I wrote "GO GREEN WITH THE BUSINESS".

So I decided, in March 2020 to go for it!

GO GREEN!

Which meant saying goodbye to the majority of my best sellers because they used vinyl so I took the plunge and discontinued 259 designs, designs I had created over the course of 4 years. Designs inspired by my family, life experiences and you lovely lot! But I knew this chapter needed a fresh green start!

Goodbye to all of my stock because they weren't sustainable products and hello to a new range of products and prints! Starting from scratch essentially.

So here I am, redesigning a new website, designs and seeking the best environmentally friendly products I can find, in the middle of a virus pandemic. Which has made me, and I know the majority of people, revalue what matters in life.

What matters to me, is for my family to be healthy and happy in a sustainable world. I have realised that I am only one person but I know I can make a difference, for them.

I want my children's children to see animals that right now face extinction. To reduce our plastic waste and help the environment so I decided to plant a tree for every t-shirt sold to help reduce the temperature of the world, create habitats for wild life and to reforest areas of woodland which has been destroyed by generations before me.

All whilst continuing to do a job I love as well as my bit for the environment too.

I have sourced biodegradable packaging, created tags from recycled paper, made business cards from plantable paper and so many other little elements which contribute to my mission.

I am excited about this new chapter.
